You can finally switch off Teams recording expiration notifications tenant-wide, with a single administrative setting.

Microsoft added a tenant-level control for Teams recording expiration notifications, and the feature finished rolling out to commercial clouds in early June 2026. By default, these emails stay on. As a result, every user keeps getting “your recording is expiring” messages until you change it. The new PowerShell setting, DisableTeamsMeetingRecordingDeletedNotification, suppresses those notifications across the whole tenant when you set it to true.

The Fine Print

This control is tenant-wide only—there is no per-user option available. Furthermore, you will need the latest SharePoint Online Management Shell to configure it properly. It is important to note that recording behavior and actual data retention schedules do not change; only the automated notification emails stop.

How to Stop Teams Meeting Expiration Emails to Reduce IT Help Desk Tickets: A Quality-of-Life Win for IT Admins

Ultimately, it is a small flag with an outsized effect on inbox noise and the internal support tickets it generates. Switching off Teams recording expiration notifications stands as one of the cleaner, immediate quality-of-life wins available to M365 administrators right now.
