Purview DSPM is GA — the posture layer underneath your AI program

We recently wrote about Microsoft Purview for agents — the tooling that watches what AI agents do once they’re loose in your tenant. A few of you have probably discussed the harder question internally: how do you find the exposure before an agent, or a person, ever touches it?

That’s what the new Microsoft Purview Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) experience is built for, and it’s now generally available. DSPM pulls your data-security signal — sensitivity labels, oversharing, risky activity, policy coverage — into one view and points you at the real gaps across Microsoft 365. Rolling out alongside it through mid-June to late July 2026 is a new data security posture agent that uses a language model to reason about context and intent, surfacing exposure that fixed classifiers miss and ranking what to fix first.

We’ve spent the last year running oversharing cleanups ahead of Copilot rollouts, and the risk is real unless your organization has implemented proper coverage.
