Teams like HR, Sales, Support, AP, and executive support often rely on shared inboxes to manage high-volume communication. But until now, Copilot Chat in Outlook did not fully support shared and delegated mailboxes.
That is changing, and it’s a huge win for productivity!
Copilot can now help inside team inboxes. If you have a Copilot license, you can now run summaries and drafts directly inside those team inboxes. Whether you’re managing a helpdesk or supporting an executive’s calendar, the AI can finally see the context where you work without you needing to copy and paste elsewhere.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Privacy: Your chat history stays with your primary account, not the shared inbox. Your teammates won’t see your specific Copilot interactions.
- Compatibility: This is available for the new Outlook, web, and mobile. Classic Outlook for Windows isn’t supported just yet.
Next Step: Identify your teams that rely heavily on shared mailboxes (like AP or exec support). Confirm they are using the new Outlook so they can hit the ground running as this rolls out.
Features like this are coming fast, but a successful Copilot rollout is about more than just knowing where the buttons are. Success includes governance, user adoption, and making sure your data is ready for AI in the first place.
If you’re rolling out Copilot and want to ensure you’re getting all the value you can, let’s talk about a strategy that works for your specific environment.
