Challenge

For 15 years TLC’s intranet was the focal point for running their business. However, it was based on outdated technology that was hard to update, inflexible, and of course did not integrate with modern technologies.

What We Did

  • We did a strategic roadmap project to evaluate the company vision for a new technology platform, and that quickly became a gap analysis review of their existing intranet and what an ideal new SharePoint-based intranet would look like.
  • We rebuilt their public facing website on SharePoint 2013 and set up a centralized content management system so that it would be easy to update by the marketing department. All the case studies are provided from a search engine that is using a SharePoint database. The branding was made responsive and given a fresh look to modernize the company’s image.
  • We stood up a SharePoint 2013 farm complete with all BI features including SSRS, and Power Pivot.
  • We built a web application called TLC University, that would track upcoming courses allow people to sign up for classes track their transcripts.
  • Digital assets were contained within several file formats, and we converted these all to MP4 and created a DAM (digital assets management) library. Now educational videos regarding their various CAD tools (AutoCAD, BIM, Navis works, Revit) are well organized and maintained by an internal project manager.
  • Marketing has a site that integrates internal file shares with data being surfaced within SharePoint to make it easier to search and locate assets.
  • Their staff directory utilizes our people finder app, for instantly locating phone numbers and contact information for staff members.
  • Search was built with several scopes to crawl file shares and other strategic data locations and file shares.
  • Custom user support was designed and developed with step by steps instructions, screen captures, and videos.
  • Power user training was conducted from lesson plans jointly written.

The Result

A game changer for TLC as they move from an inflexible technology platform to a very modern platform, integrated with email, calendars, tasks, and works on iPhones and iPads.
