AspenTech is a global leader in asset optimization software, enhancing the operational efficiency of the world’s leading industrial companies. Their innovative software solutions reduce waste and environmental impact, facilitating a sustainable and profitable industrial future.
Challenge
AspenTech was operating on a mission-critical SharePoint 2003 farm that was increasingly unstable. In 2006, they sought managed services to ensure their SharePoint remained highly available around the clock. Given their global operations, maintenance windows were tightly scheduled, and the company adhered to strict change control policies.
What We Did
- Managed Services: Served as an extension of AspenTech’s IT department, providing 24/7 monitoring and preventive maintenance for their SharePoint farm, affectionately named “Sherlock.”
- Enhancements and Upgrades:
- Developed and enhanced features for “Baker Street,” a crucial component of their SharePoint environment.
- Conducted an in-place upgrade of their SQL server to enhance database stability and performance.
- Deployed a new SharePoint 2010 partner extranet with forms-based authentication, facilitating secure partner access.
- Continuous Support: Collaborated closely with AspenTech’s IT team and application support specialists to manage patches, service windows, and resource planning. We ensured seamless operations by adhering to the directive of “never any surprises,” as emphasized by Todd Sewards, Director of Applications.
The Result
Our comprehensive SharePoint managed services provided AspenTech with robust support, ensuring the platform’s high availability and reliability. The new extranet portal we developed became a pivotal tool for content distribution and learning, significantly enhancing partner engagement and collaboration. Our efforts supported AspenTech’s mission by ensuring their digital transformation initiatives proceeded without interruption, contributing to sustained operational excellence.
